Northwest Missouri Children’s Advocacy Center :: Ways To Help

Volunteering

The Northwest Missouri Children’s Advocacy Center is beginning a volunteer program. Volunteers will contribute their unique talents, skills & knowledge to help provide services to children, their families and our staff. As a volunteer you will help in the fight against child abuse as we help the children who have been abused, recover and deal with the trauma they have endured. Volunteers must be 18 years old and pass a criminal background check. All volunteers will go through volunteer orientation. If you volunteer in direct contact with children and families there will be a training on child abuse. For more information about volunteering, please contact joyce_estes@nwmocac.org.

Some Volunteer Opportunities:

Family Care Advocates are needed to meet clients when they arrive, help answer questions about the services, entertain waiting children and be a compassionate listener. This volunteer must be good at interacting with both children and adults, especially in stressful, emotional situations. Volunteers in this position must have a flexible schedule, pass a background check and maintain confidentiality.

Office assistance is needed as we have a small staff. We often need help with answering the telephone, making copies, filing, and other clerical tasks.

Facility maintenance help consists of weekly cleaning, holiday decorating, small repair jobs.

Community Relations volunteers would participate in fundraising events, manning public information booths, help prepare mailings and educational programs.
